Fontish (“Fontish,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information may be collected, used, stored, and shared when you visit fontish.com, use our typography tools, download resources, subscribe to our emails, contact us, or otherwise interact with Fontish.

By using Fontish, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Where applicable law requires consent for particular processing activities, we will request that consent separately.

1. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you interact with Fontish.

Information You Provide Directly

You may voluntarily provide information such as:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • information submitted through contact forms;
  • information submitted when subscribing to our newsletter or email communications;
  • information provided when requesting or downloading resources such as the Typography Starter Kit;
  • messages, questions, feedback, or other information you send to us; and
  • information you may provide when using future Fontish products or services.

You are not required to provide personal information simply to browse most areas of Fontish.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit Fontish, certain technical information may be collected automatically by our website, hosting infrastructure, analytics providers, security services, or other technologies.

Depending on the services being used, this information may include:

  • IP address;
  • browser type and version;
  • device type;
  • operating system;
  • approximate geographic location derived from your IP address;
  • referring and exit pages;
  • pages viewed;
  • links clicked;
  • date and time of visits;
  • session duration;
  • interaction and usage data;
  • cookie identifiers or similar identifiers; and
  • diagnostic, performance, and security information.

We use this information primarily to operate, secure, understand, and improve Fontish.

2. How We Use Information

We may use information collected through Fontish to:

  • provide, operate, and maintain the website;
  • deliver requested resources and services;
  • operate Fontish typography tools;
  • respond to questions, messages, and support requests;
  • send newsletters, educational content, resources, or other communications you have requested;
  • manage email subscriptions;
  • understand how visitors use Fontish;
  • measure website traffic and performance;
  • improve our content, tools, user experience, and services;
  • detect spam, fraud, abuse, and security threats;
  • troubleshoot technical problems;
  • maintain and protect our legal rights;
  • comply with applicable legal obligations;
  • measure the effectiveness of content, marketing, and advertising;
  • administer affiliate relationships where applicable; and
  • support future products, services, advertising, and other Fontish features.

We do not sell your email address or mailing-list information to third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.

3. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), UK GDPR, or similar laws apply, we process personal information only where we have an appropriate legal basis.

Depending on the circumstances, that basis may include:

Consent. For example, when you choose to subscribe to marketing emails or consent to certain cookies or tracking technologies.

Performance of a contract or steps requested before entering a contract. This may apply when you request a product, download, service, or other resource that requires us to process information in order to provide it.

Legitimate interests. We may process information where reasonably necessary to operate, secure, analyze, and improve Fontish, provided those interests are not overridden by your applicable privacy rights.

Legal obligations. We may process information when necessary to comply with laws, regulations, court orders, or other legal requirements.

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn.

4. Email Communications and the Typography Starter Kit

If you subscribe to Fontish emails, request the Typography Starter Kit, or join another Fontish email list, we may collect information such as your email address and any other information you voluntarily provide through the relevant form.

We use Brevo to help manage our subscriber lists, forms, email communications, automations, and related email-marketing activities.

Information submitted through a Fontish subscription form may therefore be processed through Brevo for purposes such as:

  • maintaining and managing our subscriber lists;
  • delivering requested resources, including the Typography Starter Kit;
  • sending newsletters, educational content, and other requested communications;
  • operating email sequences and automations;
  • processing subscriptions and unsubscribe requests;
  • maintaining suppression and consent records; and
  • measuring and improving email performance where permitted by applicable law.

Brevo may process information relating to email delivery and engagement, such as whether an email was delivered, opened, or clicked, depending on our configuration and the privacy choices available to you.

Where applicable law requires separate consent for email engagement tracking or similar technologies, we will use appropriate consent mechanisms or disable such tracking as required.

If Fontish uses Brevo website-tracking functionality, cookies or similar technologies may also be used to understand interactions between our emails and website. Where such tracking requires consent, it will be subject to the consent choices available on Fontish.

You can unsubscribe from Fontish marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in our emails.

Unsubscribing from marketing communications does not necessarily require us to delete information that we must retain for legitimate administrative, security, compliance, or legal purposes.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Fontish and services used by Fontish may use cookies and similar technologies such as local storage, pixels, tags, and other identifiers.

Cookies are small data files stored on or accessed through your device. They can perform different functions, including remembering preferences, measuring website performance, maintaining security, analyzing usage, and supporting advertising.

Cookies used on or through Fontish may fall into categories such as:

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies support functions required for the website to operate securely and correctly.

Functional Cookies

These may remember settings or choices that improve your experience.

Analytics and Performance Cookies

These technologies help us understand how visitors interact with Fontish, which pages are visited, how visitors reach the site, and how the website performs.

Advertising Cookies

If Fontish uses advertising services, advertising providers may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver, measure, limit, personalize, or otherwise manage advertising, subject to applicable law and your consent choices.

Affiliate Tracking Cookies

When Fontish uses affiliate links, an affiliate partner or merchant may place cookies or use similar technologies to determine whether a referral from Fontish results in a purchase or other qualifying action.

More detailed information about the cookies and similar technologies used on Fontish will be provided in our Cookie Policy and, where applicable, through our cookie or consent-management interface.

6. Analytics

Fontish may use analytics technologies, including services provided by Google, to understand how visitors find and use the website.

Analytics services may collect information such as:

  • pages visited;
  • session activity;
  • approximate location;
  • device and browser information;
  • referral source;
  • interaction information; and
  • technical identifiers such as IP addresses or cookie identifiers.

We use analytics information to understand website performance, improve content and tools, diagnose problems, and make better decisions about Fontish.

Where required by applicable law, non-essential analytics technologies will be used only after appropriate consent has been obtained.

7. Advertising

Fontish may display advertising provided by third-party advertising networks or platforms, including Google or other advertising providers.

Advertising providers may use cookies, web beacons, local storage, device identifiers, IP addresses, and similar technologies to:

  • serve advertisements;
  • measure advertising performance;
  • prevent fraud and abuse;
  • limit how often advertisements appear;
  • understand advertising interactions; and
  • personalize advertisements where permitted and where the required consent has been obtained.

Third-party advertising providers may collect information about your activity on Fontish and, subject to their own policies and applicable law, information from other websites or services.

Where applicable law requires consent before advertising cookies or similar technologies are used, Fontish will provide appropriate consent controls.

Depending on your location and choices, you may receive personalized, non-personalized, contextual, or limited advertising.

Fontish does not control all information independently collected by third-party advertising providers. Their handling of information is also governed by their own privacy policies and legal obligations.

8. Affiliate Links

Some Fontish pages may contain affiliate links.

If you click an affiliate link, the relevant merchant, affiliate network, or service provider may use cookies or other tracking technologies to identify that you were referred by Fontish.

If you subsequently make a qualifying purchase or complete another qualifying action, Fontish may receive a commission or other compensation.

Using an affiliate link generally does not increase the price you pay unless clearly stated otherwise.

Our commercial relationships do not determine our editorial opinions. More information about how Fontish handles affiliate relationships is available in our Affiliate Disclosure.

9. Typography Tools

Fontish provides interactive typography and font-related tools.

When you use these tools, technical and interaction information may be processed as necessary to operate the tool, maintain security, understand usage, and improve functionality.

Unless a tool specifically tells you otherwise, you should not submit confidential, sensitive, proprietary, or personally identifying information into Fontish tools.

If a particular tool requires personal information or uses information in a materially different way, we may provide additional notice at the point where that information is collected.

10. Third-Party Services and Service Providers

We may use third-party companies and service providers to help operate Fontish.

These providers may support functions such as:

  • website hosting and infrastructure;
  • content delivery and website security;
  • analytics;
  • email marketing;
  • form processing;
  • advertising;
  • affiliate tracking;
  • website performance;
  • spam prevention;
  • technical support; and
  • other operational services.

These providers may process information on our behalf or, in some circumstances, act as independent controllers of information they collect.

We seek to use reputable providers, but their processing of information is also subject to their own terms, privacy policies, and applicable laws.

11. External Links and Embedded Content

Fontish contains links to third-party websites, font providers, tools, services, marketplaces, and other external resources.

Articles or pages may also include embedded content provided by third parties.

When you interact with an external website or embedded service, that third party may collect information according to its own privacy practices.

Fontish does not control and is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, content, or policies of independent third-party websites or services.

We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing personal information.

12. When We May Share Information

We may share personal information in limited circumstances, including:

Service providers. We may provide information to companies that perform services on our behalf where reasonably necessary for them to provide those services.

Legal requirements. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, court orders, or lawful government requests.

Protection of rights and security. Information may be disclosed where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, security threats, violations of our terms, or threats to the rights or safety of Fontish, our users, or others.

Business changes. If Fontish or relevant assets are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale, or transfer, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

With your direction or consent. We may share information where you specifically ask us to do so or otherwise consent.

13. International Data Transfers

Fontish is available to visitors around the world.

Some of our service providers may process or store information in countries other than the country where you live. As a result, personal information may be transferred across national borders.

Privacy and data-protection laws vary between countries.

Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers of personal information, we and/or our service providers may rely on legally recognized mechanisms such as adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses, applicable data privacy frameworks, or other lawful safeguards.

14. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including to provide services, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason it was collected.

For example, subscriber information may be retained while you remain subscribed and for an appropriate period afterward where necessary to maintain unsubscribe records or meet legal and operational requirements.

We may retain aggregated or anonymized information that no longer identifies you.

15. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or misuse.

However, no website, database, transmission method, or online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for using appropriate security practices when accessing online services and for avoiding the submission of sensitive information where it is unnecessary.

16. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights regarding your personal information.

These may include the right to:

  • request access to personal information we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • request deletion of personal information;
  • restrict certain processing;
  • object to certain processing;
  • withdraw consent;
  • request a portable copy of certain information;
  • opt out of certain marketing communications;
  • opt out of or restrict certain targeted advertising, sharing, or sale of personal information where applicable; and
  • lodge a complaint with an appropriate data-protection authority.

These rights are not absolute and may depend on your location and the circumstances of the processing.

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain privacy requests.

We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

17. European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, applicable data-protection law may provide additional rights regarding your personal information.

Where required, Fontish will request consent before storing or accessing non-essential cookies or similar technologies on your device.

Where Fontish participates in advertising programs requiring a consent management platform, we may use a consent management platform (“CMP”) to present privacy choices and transmit applicable consent signals to advertising partners.

You may be able to change or withdraw cookie and advertising choices through the consent controls made available on Fontish.

You may also have the right to complain to the data-protection authority responsible for your jurisdiction.

18. United States Privacy Rights

Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional rights under applicable state privacy laws.

Depending on the law and whether it applies to Fontish, these rights may include requesting access, correction, or deletion of personal information and opting out of certain forms of targeted advertising, sale, or sharing of personal information.

Fontish does not sell email subscriber lists or contact information to data brokers.

Certain advertising or analytics activities, however, may fall within broad statutory definitions of “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” under some U.S. state privacy laws even where no money is exchanged for personal information.

Where required by applicable law, we will provide mechanisms for exercising applicable opt-out rights.

19. Cookie and Advertising Choices

Depending on your location, you may be able to manage non-essential cookies through the consent-management controls available on Fontish.

You can also configure your browser to block, restrict, or delete cookies. Blocking cookies may affect the operation of certain website features.

Where available and legally required, Fontish may also recognize or respond to supported browser-based privacy preference signals.

Additional information and controls will be described in our Cookie Policy.

20. Marketing Communications

We send marketing emails only where we have an appropriate basis to do so.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in our marketing emails.

After unsubscribing, we may retain limited information necessary to ensure that your preference continues to be respected.

Service-related or legally required communications, if applicable, may not be subject to marketing opt-out requests.

21. Children’s Privacy

Fontish is intended for a general audience interested in typography, design, fonts, and related subjects. It is not directed specifically to children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through services directed to them.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to Fontish in circumstances that violate applicable law, please contact us so we can review the situation and take appropriate action.

22. Do Not Track and Privacy Signals

Some browsers provide a “Do Not Track” signal. There is currently no single universally accepted standard governing how websites must respond to all such signals.

Where applicable privacy law requires Fontish to recognize a particular legally valid opt-out or universal preference signal, we will endeavor to honor that signal as required.

23. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Fontish evolves, our service providers change, new features are introduced, or legal and regulatory requirements develop.

When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

Material changes may also be communicated through additional notices where appropriate or legally required.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
